And what was his reply Uggs?

Was he actually a fed or just a third party brought in to do a fed's job?

Well , it looks like I may have gotten away with it. The Law states that i must receive the NIP within 14 days of the offence and i am now on day 15.  Hope i,m not tempting fate by saying that. But, i have looked it up and it deffo says 14 days. So, today i went for a nice little ride on the Suzi . And stuck to the limits like a good boy  ::)

Yes looks like you have Mel. 8)

The 14 day rule is correct.....you MUST be informed of their intention within 14 days of the alleged offence.

Seeing as that's the law, and many people just say they haven't received such a letter, I can't understand why the NIPs aren't sent out as a registered letter....there would then be proof of date of posting and proof of delivery, and to whom.

Makes no sense apart from penny pinching.

I always wondered what happened that one night when I was going back to Swansea UNI after a weekend at home and was flashed on one of the roads near the college. Nothing came through the letter box at my student digs and I just praised the lord Satan that his will was done!

To add to this topic....

A few weeks ago I was driving on a road near to Llantrisant close to where I used to live in the late 90's. That road used to have a 50mph limit, so as I exited a roundabout and started to moderately accelerate up to 50 on a two lane dual carriageway I noticed that the gaggle of cars in the nearside lane in front of me were braking to slow down rather rapidly. The car directly in front of me (a white 1 series BMW) didn't want to be slowed so moved into the offside lane to overtake the line of dawdling traffic. It was then I noticed the roof and windows of a speed camera van parked up about 100 yards away on the lefthand verge. I also then noticed the repeater signs on the poles showing a 40 mph limit. I was doing just under 50. Oh bugger!!
The vehicle now in front of me was a small van........in a flash (no pun intended) I figured that as I had only seen the very top portion of the open camera van window, my front number plate couldn't have been visible to the camera, as it was not only much lower down than my own eye level, but it was also being blocked by the berlingo van in front. I was still at this point exceeding the speed limit however (allegedly, for the sake of any coppers who may be reading!). As we got closer to the van, I didn't want my plate to be visible as we passed, so I moved into the offside lane and accelerated just enough to keep the berlingo (which was still in the nearside lane) between me an the camera van, and so blocking it's sightline to my front plate. Then as we all passed alongside each other I accelerated ahead of the berlingo and quickly moved back into the nearside lane just in front of it, so any rear facing camera couldn't nab my rear plate either.

The speed at which my mind cunningly and deviously concocted this plan in a heartbeat was mega..........I even managed to impress myself!!! hehe.  ;D

I have since found out that the limit on that stretch of road was dropped from 50 to 40 about 2-3 years ago, after some pissheads came out of the pub absolutely bladdered, and managed to get themselves killed when they stepped into oncoming traffic trying to cross the road.  ::)

I was pretty sure the camera van couldn't see my plates at any time....and enough weeks have now passed without a NIP landing on my doorstep confirming that was indeed the case......or maybe the camera's focus (pun intended) was trained on that white BMW (who spotted it and hit the brakes at the last moment)........but boy, it was a close one!!! :o
