Motorcycle Road Racing on the Isle of Wight
« on: July 29, 2020, 08:38:11 PM »
It has been announced that the Isle of Wight will host motorcycle racing on public roads in 2021.

Of course, this is fantastic news, but I as much as I want to be positive about it, I can't help but feel a sense of deja vu as exactly the same news was announced in a similar fanfare back in 2017 about a Welsh TT Road Race being held near Tirabad in the Brecon Beacons, and that turned out to be a non-starter, even after tickets and accommodation had been sold for the event.

Also, around the same time it was reported that The Circuit of Wales, a cutting edge race track that would be the envy of the world, had been granted planning permission and so was given the green light for funding by the Welsh Government was to be built. That never happened either.

So, whilst I welcome this venture and very much hope all the planets align and it comes to fruition, I'm sorry to say that I won't be buying tickets early or holding my breath.

I hope I'm proven wrong though. :-\
