Awww downer.......that's not good.

What is good is that you managed to fix it........but it's reliability thus far doesn't bode well.  :-\

How is this compressor going now Mel? ???

A buddy of mine from the club has just bought an identical one after researching all the reviews and deciding the Yong Heng was the most reliable.

I seemed to recall you'd bought one but had issues, so just looked through and found this tread......so my memory ain't deserted me completely yet it seems!!! ;D ;D

I hope i,m not tempting fate but so far the compressor is still running. I,ve topped up a few rifles and even a 3lt bottle without any problems. My mate,s , bought from the same dodgy vendor , is also still running OK . I guess , like everything I buy , I got a Friday night one .

After my mate saying he'd bought one.......I did some online research yest afternoon........and have found varying reports on them. ::)

Some say the reliability of the Yong Heng is the best you can get (considering the price point).......others complain it fails in no time! Also found plenty of repair/stripdown vids on YouTube which is worrying. :( :(

The real problem is getting spare parts . They seem to be available only in the U.S. . I could be wrong but when mine went tits up I couldn,t find anyone selling spares over here. It was just my luck that the sharks that sold mine , out of Portsmouth , were actually selling wedding dresses !! and Boy did they have a bad reputation. I Googled the name and the list of complaints was endless.

My buddy got his on ebay from a seller in Germany....270 to his door.  8)

I can't find anything close......the very few UK sellers want big bucks and/or are showing unbranded compressors. Not willing to pay over the odds for summat that has questionable reliability, or is not the genuine item. :o

About 350 gets you a branded Yong Heng.......but it has to ship from China...and so the potential for it being damaged in transit is quite large IMHO. :(

How did you go about fixing the piston ring problem Mel? ???

I knew I was tempting fate. The bloody thing blew up today . The high pressure part of the piston broke up . When you look at how these things are made you can see why they go wrong.  The high pressure piston is just a rod bolted to the top of the main low pressure piston. Just one bolt holds it in place. Talk about crude. I have found that you can get spares , posted from China, on Ali-express. Now I face a dilemma , do I repair the bloody thing or do I spend big money on something better? An Air Omega or the new, Hills compressor
Decisions, decisions.

Well you know the saying......go cheap first!!! ;)

If that doesn't sort it....then decide whether to splash the cash. ;)

Is the spare simply a replacement, or an upgraded part? ???
