Dead chuffed
« on: May 27, 2018, 06:47:10 PM »
As some of you know I compete in HFT competitions, twice a month , usually with one of my homebuilt pcp,s. Well , a few months back I bought a TX200hc with HFT in mind. I did the usual first stage tune and also short stroked it. Today I decided to use it at the club in the monthly Cambridge rules comp.  In this format anythings goes. That means ridiculously long range targets with small kills and some that can only be seen off the peg position. In other words, a real challenge. Well, guess who won the springer class ? Moi . I beat the club,s two best springer guys too. That includes throwing away four points on targets I couldn,t find ( hidden behind lots of leaves ).  Not bad for an old age pensioner , well chuffed  ;D

You haven,t heard the best bit. The day before the shoot I was advised to try using Accupels , which I did.  Before the change I was using JSB RS , running at 10.6 fpe.  With Accupels I got a sub half inch group at 50 yards ( indoors ) so went with them. After the shoot I checked the rifle again. It was running at only 9.8 fpe !! Goes to show , accuracy over power , every time. Mind you , I have bumped it back up to 10.8 fpe.  :) Just have to re zero now. Then i,ll try it at the next shoot under UK HFT rules.

Accupel's  are now use a Single Die in each Can's of 500, just like the Brown Box 625 in .22 use to be. Now find the Magic Die CAN and Buy Them ALL.....Franky

I don,t know the die number as these are pellets i,ve had for years. And, they are stored in a tobacco tin. I keep lots of pellets this way. I line the tins with snooker table baize and paint the lids with a logo . In the past I used to paint tobacco tins for people. All kinds of subjects , motorbikes , animals , houses , airguns , album covers , etc..  Some even landed up in the States .

Unfortunately, most of the sixty or so I painted are spread all over the country. I started painting them in the eighties . The early ones, like these , later ones are quite crude what with knackered brushes, drying paints and buggered eyesight. On the other hand, most of the rest came out very well . A lot of the orders came from people I never met. The only half decent one here is the Winchester calendar, which I painted in ,81.
