Uncle Barry's Memorial Meet 2018
« on: May 19, 2018, 08:47:34 PM »
Hi everyone,
Might be a bit short notice but Uncle Barry's Memorial shoot will be at the
usual place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of June.
    Regards
               Steve (Uncle Barry's little brother)
My mind not only wanders ...... sometimes it leaves completely.

Thanks for the heads-up Steve.

For those that aren't aware, the meet is being held at Melbury Abbas, near Shaftsbury in Dorset. The post code is SP7 ODB.

It's a beautiful location, and one of Uncle Barry's permissions where he used to spend much of his time. Well worth the visit if you can make it, not only to enjoy the venue, but the company of many of his family and friends, and to remember our sadly departed 'Uncle Barry'.

Had a brillaint day down in Dorset yest, it was great to meet again all the friends and family who were close to Barry, and many thanks to everyone for making my daughters and myself so welcome. :)

It was a scorcher of a day, but dispite the blistering heat of the sun, we managed to do a fair bit of shooting, and we competed in the comp for the Memorial Trophy, where everyone used Uncle Barry's Daystate Huntsman Classic. The spoils went to Barry's Grandson Steve, and a very hearty Well Done to him. ;)

When the comp finished, a tree was planted in memory of Gill, wife of Barry's brother Steve, who sadly passed away last year.

The Trophy and winner's tankard were awarded next to Barry's tree, while pics were taken, and then respects, and a good few doses of Tribute beer (Barry's favourite) were poured over the tree, in appreciation of the the late man, who even after is passing, had brought everyone together there.

Sadly we had to leave not long after that, just as the evening BBQ and frivolities were about to get into swing.....I hope everyone had a very enjoyable night. ;D

Many thanks to the Hutchins family for the invite down, and making us feel so welcome.

A big shout out also to Rob, for overseeing the shooting comp so well. Good on Ya mucker. ;)
