cheap(ish) pellets
« on: January 18, 2018, 11:32:46 AM »
I,m always looking for a cheaper alternative to the usual JSB/H&N pellets for use when ratting especially as I rarely take shots over 25  yards. So, I thought i,d try some of these. At 21yards, through my R-10 , its pellet on pellet. Good enough and at 7.79 per tin good value.

there are 2 versions of the R10 a light pistol version and a slightly heavier one for rifles, there is also 2 head sizes for each weight 4.49 and 4.50

you might also want to think about rws geco http://sheffieldairrifles.co.uk/rws-geco-177-45mm-70g-flat-head-air-gun-pellets-tin-of-500-p-69893.html
we found them to be excellent plinking pellets with very consistent weight and head size (4.50)

I think you misunderstood me airgunnut. I was referring to my BSA R-10 , not the R-10 pellets.

If yours is anything like my experience Mel, I'd hazard a guess that's it's the BSA barrel giving the accuracy with the cheapo pellets, rather than the accuracy being inherent of the pellets themselves.

Why.......because I found some cheapo .22 Norica Apache pellets gave pellet on pellet at 40 yards out of my BSA SuperTen.....but they were less accurate out of some other non-BSA barrelled rifles I tried them in. This lead me to believe it's the very 'forgiving' cold forged barrel that was doin' the biz.

I've also found certain other pellets which work better out of BSA tubes than other barrel brands.
