Change of kit
« on: February 01, 2018, 10:57:51 AM »
I took the decision to change from using a scope to using my old Pitch Black unit when using my R-10. That way I can just grab the rifle knowing the NV is already in place , saving time after arriving at a perm.

I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with that, compared to your own NV rig.

Did you get one of those recording units you were asking about?
..........so I packed up and went to the pub.

No, I wouldn,t know how to use it, i,m that thick . And i certainly wouldn,t know how to put the video onto You Tube.
I,m really not that comfortable with computers and the like. Give me a lathe or milling machine any day.

I,ve used it on my last two forays and, I have to say, it,s worked very well. The picture quality is better than most. The only downsides are 1 ; it has a fixed magnification , around x4 or 5 and 2; the illumination is also fixed. The upside is , you can place up to seven aimpoints on the screen . I have 20 and 10 yard aimpoints on mine. This seems to work well as for say, 15 yards you just bracket the rat,s head between the crosshairs. And the 20 yard crosshair is good for 40 yards. I can also choose from seven colours to illuminate the reticule. And the best colour by far is white , its good for all conditions.

Ooh! Multiple aim points...... I wonder if I can achieve the same with a magic marker and some dots on my NVIDIA screen.  ::)
