Target-Air Products
« on: October 28, 2015, 05:01:10 PM »
I recently had the chance to inspect a few products 'on approval' from a new company making target holders called Target-Air, with a view to purchase for use at our airgun club.

So impressed were we with the strength and quality of the holders and targets, we not only ordered some for the club, and but also some for our personal use too.

As you can imagine, the target holders at the club take a real beating, so much so that the areas directly behind where the bullseyes go can quite quickly become distorted by the pounding, and even split through if not attended to or replaced when it becomes necessary.

That most certainly isn't going to happen with these target holders though, as the thickness and quality of materials, and of the manufacturing procedure, is the very best I've ever clapped eyes on.

Unlike many cheaper 'tin' type target holders, these are not only made from steel a full 3mm thick, but where the edges of each plate meets, they are dovetailed together, as well as being fully seam welded. The sheer weight and heft of these holders has to be experienced to be believed. The holder I bought, a 17cm funnel type holder, weighs in at a substantial 1.6kg, or 3lbs 9oz, to those over a certain age. By comparison, the same design of funnel shaped target holder SMK offer weighs 0.6kg or 1lb 3oz. I have no doubt this Target-Air holder could easily shrug off repeated close range use by a rimfire, it's that strong and tough! (Incidentally, they do offer spinner targets for rimmy' 6mm thick!!!)

The 'cut accuracy' of each plate is absolutely perfect, and I would give an educated guess it has been laser cut on CNC machinery. There is no evidence whatsoever of hacksaw, hammer or file use anywhere. The standard of the welds are superb too, very clean and neat, and the penetration of which is evident on the opposite side of each plate, as it can be seen even though the thick gloss black paint (?) which has been generously applied. Even the folds of some of the edges looks to have been done on a mandrel press, not with a vice and hammer.

These certainly don't have the air (no pun intended) of being 'garden shed lash-ups' being hurriedly knocked out as a hobby in someone's spare time, as are many other offerings I've seen. Nor are they made by the million in some sweatshop somewhere on the other side of the World.  Nope, these are TOP QUALITY products, made near Bristol, in the UK.

Along with the target holders, we were also given a small selection of target cards to inspect. Even these are of the highest quality, sharply printed on decent card, with the images of the 'photograph' type targets being true and vivid.

Lastly, you'd naturally expect such unrivaled quality to come at a price, and it does..........a very cheap one! Just how Target-Air can offer these products for so little beggars belief.

By now you can probably guess that I'm totally smitten with these Target-Air products, and you'd be right. The only problem I can envisage with them is that they are too good, as once you've bought what you need, you won't be back for repeat business as the products will last you a lifetime.

If this review and recommendation has whetted your appetite, my advice is to get your order in quick, as demand is bound to go stratospheric as soon as word gets a little bird tells me prices are due to increase in the new year. ;)

Be interested to see how they fair at your club, might consider getting some for ours if they stand up to a battering.i won an air arms spinning target last year, gave it to the club for our zero range,it's getting proper ruined.even .177 pellets will bend the 10mm spinner back
