Dan Wesson
« on: January 18, 2012, 10:36:58 AM »

Sorry to bore anyone who's seen this before, but I'm especially chuffed and wanted to share with more peeps!

I've just converted my Dan Wesson 4" from .177 steel bb to .177 lead pellet, and it's performance is finally matching it's looks  8)

I intend to find a rifled barrel at some point, but even without, well - you can see for yourselves.   I bored 1cm into each cartridge (you know, the fake bullets that hold the bb) and cleaned up with a stiff, fine brush.  A basic 4.5mm drill bit wrapped in rubber bands was as technical as I need to get, luckily.

Took a bit of experimenting with pellets, like.  Light flatheads work best, with no indexing problems so far.  I tried some heavy 8.4 grain RWS domes, but found them too irksome.  Weirdly, some cheap n' nasty SMK pellets gave great results too  :o

Targets were at 7 metres, Weaver stance, single action.  The centre circle is 2p coin size, btw.

Oh, and Geco wadcutters + red dot sight =

Yep, these Geco's go very well don't they?

They are probably the most popular .177 pellet at the club...we sell loads...we just can't get enough of 'em.

There very cheap too, but the quality is stunning.......there's just no need to buy owt else for use in pistols, tbh!

Yeah, I was spending out on posh R10 target pellets for my HW40 until I discovered Geco's.  Great all-rounders  8)

I couldn't say Geezer, I've never held a real DW.

All I can say is - the DW is really solid.  It's all metal apart from the grips and feels like a good couple of pounds.   8)
