On the weekend, I recoated my car windows with Rain-X.

I note that the last application of it didn't last as long as the first did, so exactly as Werx77 said.

So before I applied the Rain-X this time, I cleaned the glass normally (as I've done before), but then carefully wiped over the glass with clean cellulose thinners on a new rag, to remove any previous coatings or residues.....a sort of like 'going back to the beginning' type approach.

Whether the Rain-X will now last longer this time remains to be seen.

Another reason why the performance may drop off with each application, is that the product may have a 'shelf life', and the older it gets, the less effective it becomes.  As it obviously contains alcohol (it smells like Brandy), it is feasible the spirit content evaporates off somehow.....who knows ehh?
