Stir fried Woodie.

Yet again, another recipe taken from the excellent book 'Hunting with Air Rifles' by Mat Manning.

An easy peasy recipe for anyone, even if your not particularly adept in the takes just minutes to prepare and cook.


Breast meat from two pigeons (cut into thin slivers)

Olive oil (1 tablespoon)

1 large onion (coarsely chopped)

1 red of green pepper (coarsely chopped)

4oz mushrooms (sliced)

2 handfuls of frozen peas

Chow Mein sauce (the ready made type in a plastic packet)


Heat the oil in a wok so it is sizzling, and then add the onion and pigeon slices. After two or three minutes, as the pigeon starts to turn brown, add the pepper and mushrooms. Cook for another three minutes before adding the frozen peas and sauce. Cook until the sauce is piping hot, and it's ready to serve!
