What Grub You Gonna Bring????
« on: March 08, 2012, 09:12:02 AM »
So what are you going to bring to the meet? (foodwise that is)

As most of you that have been on one of my weekends know I am unable to eat curry/spicy food so most of my stuff will be plain or in tins.

I'm gunna bring curry and spicy things.

I'll bring 'Clarke's Pies' again......as they are only made in Cardiff, but famous right around the Planet.

I'll also bring a few slabs of Lager/Bitter/Cider/Guinness or whatever, to help quench our thirsts.

Also more than happy to chip in for the essentials we're gonna need on the Tesco run (Bread, butter, eggs, bacon, sausage, tea/coffee, milk sugar etc etc).

Has anyone got a few dregs of Tia Maria hanging around the house....as a shot of it is blinding in Guinness!!

Also, everyone should bring their own crockery and cutlery (that's plates, knives, forks, cups, beer glass etc to all the uneducated/common people!! :P ;D ;D)

We also need to discuss what we are gonna use to cook on, and where.

In the past, Richard (from Best Fittings) has very kindly loaned us his gas BBQ, so is that available again this year?

Likewise, Lloyd has kindly brought his fully equipped 5* kitchen tent to previous meets, but as he is sadly not able to attend this year, is there any suggestions as to what we can use for general day to day cooking, brew-ups etc?

I can bring a two ring camping gas cooker/grill if you like.

With there being a tesco nearby, perhaps the shopping can be done there, and the cost shared, rather than dragging sausages etc around in a warm car? Can we build a sizable open fire, or do we need to get disposable barbeques?
Happy to bring beer, and possibly a bottle of Jägermeister.
Will there be a need for (baking)potatoes? Depends on the cooking facilities I guess.

I'm gonna get some cockburns haggis and a choice black pudding to try and give Ian a run for his money!
I quite like the idea of bods bringing flavours of their area for some "try a taste" meals, and then getting "group grub" from Tesco for the other meals. - As some may know, I'm doing the group cooking so that others get the chance for a bit more shooting.
I do a REAL flavoursome chilli and I don't just mean hot. With some custy bread and rice it will be spot on. I'm also more than happy to cook a mild alternative for those who would prefere.
One meal that HAS to happen is Beercan chicken! I'm not saying more than that but you will love it.
Does this sound anygood?
