Pellet swap thread
« on: March 07, 2012, 05:28:18 PM »
Sometimes when you buy a new or secondhand air rifle the barrell can be very pellet fusy and buying tin after tin at a cost of 10+ can be very expensive especially when you only use 50 out of 500 so how about a pellet swap thread where lets say you swap 30 pellets with another member That way finding the right pellet for your gun would not be so expensive and even if you have found that magical pellet and someone has some pellets you have never tried you can still swap

That has been done before on other forums, and unfortunately, it wasn't well subscribed, despite it being an excellent idea.

I would dearly love to see it happen, so will start a sticky in the ammo section, to see how it goes.

Heres an idea then. If someone is looking to swap pellets, for example they purchased some .22 TR's that don't run well with their rifle or pistol. They make a thread in the 'For sale' section with [SWAP] in the title, so straight away people can see its a swap. In the thread then they state an estimate on how many pellets are left and the condition of the tin. They can then say what pellet they're specifically looking for if they are.

For example:

[SWAP] .22 TR's for any other .22 pellets. Approx 450 left. Tin is in good condition with a few scratches on the lid. Grouping wasn't too good with BSA Super 10.

Thats just an example really of my suggestion.
I live in the space between illusion and reality.

You are more than welcome to post stuff for swap in the 'For Sales', but bear in mind that section is bound by the 30/30 rule.

If it is swap thread like this, then newcomers (both to the sport or the forum) would be able to take advantage of the offer.

The volume/amounts of pellets you could swap would be negotiable, and totally up to you guys....from a few pellets, up to a full tin(s).

Shorty, are you taking of your experience of a 'Pellet Bank'? If so, this wouldn't need a person/banker to hold/take possession of the pellets, but merely an agreement between two members to swap pellets between them.

Any more idea's Guys...your comments are welcomed.

if you have pellets that don't suit your gun sell them in 50's ie: crosman pellets 7.75 a tin divided by 500 = 1.55 a pellet = 77.5p for 50 pellets ;):) then that way you get money to buy pellets that do work in your gun ;) :)

Alright Sean I'll buy 10 of your pellets at that price of you buy 10 of mine at the same price, oh that's the same thing as 'swapping' ain't it  ::)

Don't you get the idea is that say you bought a tin that don't suit your rifke and I bought a tin that didn't go well out of mine we could each send each other say 50 pellets to try. That way we'd know if another pellet was any use oh of rifles without having to spend out on a whole tin, make sense?
