Title: I've only gone and done it again...And some advice please.
Post by: Richard Saunders on March 31, 2017, 11:09:42 AM
Having promised the missus, hand on heart, that I would curb my recent spending spree on the basis that I only need one more gun to complete my collection and that I was happy to wait....I've only gone and spotted the perfect gun and (hopefully) bought it.

There's one snag though. Its a private seller who is a long way from me. Can anyone tell me how to go about transport? Do regular courier companies deliver air rifles (is it legal?). Or if I get the guy to drop it off to his local gun shop are they likely to be able to arrange delivery (for a fee of course)?

Thanks, as ever, for any help.

Rich

I know that you can use ParcelForce Express48....tracked, signed for, insured to 300, sugar coated, wrapped in gold tinsel, and all with a free Ferrero Rocher and BJ off the postie as he delivers it.

Blerky....where on hell did you get that ridiculous info from? ???

Yep Parcelfarce48 is the way to go, as long as the rifle is low powered (sub 12ftlb......FAC rated airguns are not allowed).

Don't request 25hr delivery, as to ensure they make the delivery deadline, usually items sent that way are flown domestically, which means the parcel WILL be x-rayed, and then more than likely opened to make sure it isn't a firearm. This advice was told to me by a gun owning mate who works for the Post Office, so you can be sure he knows his onions on this subject.

Airguns (or indeed any other firearms) can be sent RFD to RFD, but they usually charge about 25 admin fee for the privilege on top of the postal/courier charges.

So I should ask the guy to send the gun Parcelforce, but specify 48 hour delivery, nothing less. That right?

Yes, that's what I'd request/advise to happen. ;)
