Planet Airgun Forum Practice Thread
« on: February 09, 2018, 04:57:25 PM »
This is a thread for you to practice some of the 'posting' technicalities of using the Planet Airgun forum.

Please feel free to use this thread as much as you like, to help you get to grips with things like........ inserting links, editing quotes, adding pics into your posts.......etc etc.

There's no limits to how many attempts you make........just carry on until you're happy you've got it licked, and your heart is content!! ;) :)

One thing I would request though......is that this thread is reserved for practice only....and not for general chit chat or posting. Thanks. ;)

So how do you pick out one line, with a comment, then pick out another, with a comment?

Move your cursor at the very end of the wording you want to remove, and then press the large 'backspace' button at the top right of your keyboard. The cursor will then move backwards removing words. Obviously stop at the words you wish to keep, and reposition the cursor again to remove any further wording you don't want.

If you want to pick out one line, with a comment, then pick out another, with a comment...then you simply need to reinsert the quote again (underneath the box you are posting in is other people's previous comments....simply hit the 'Insert Quote button on the right hand side of the quote you want.

There is another way.......but I'd suggest having a go with that technique first, to see how you get on with it. ;)

Lesson 3!

I do it like this (screenshots below) :

  • "Quote" the whole piece of text.
  • Select the piece(s) of text you DON'T want in the first quote
  • Delete it/them leaving what you DO want to quote.
  • Write your bit under the "[/quote]" tag.
  • Use the "Insert Quote" tag next to the post you're quoting from (below where you're typing)........
  • ...... to "Quote" the whole piece of text AGAIN using
  • Repeat from step 2 until you're done.

And if you follow all that exactly you'll end up with a post that looks a bit like this :

  • Step 1 :

  • Step 2 :

  • Step 3 :

  • Step 4 :

  • Step 5 :

  • Step 6 :

  • Step 7 (repeating 2) :

  • Step 8  (repeating 3) :

  • Step 9  (repeating 4) :

..........so I packed up and went to the pub.
