Sliding hamster
« on: March 26, 2018, 03:55:24 PM »
Having decided to use my TX200HC for HFT , i,ve made a few mods. The first being to short stroke it which has reduced the felt recoil. When zeroing i was getting groups of around an inch at 45 yards. Not bad considering I haven,t use a boinger in competition for 30 years. The problem is, holding the peg and resting the rifle on my hand. I found it a bit awkward. What i needed was a hamster So , this morning i made one - with a difference. I,ve made a two piece hamster with the top part fixed firmly to the rifle stock and the lower plate fixed to that , only loosely . This allows the rifle to slide slightly. At 21 yards , resting my hand on a chair and holding the bottom plate i managed to put four shots literally through the same hole. Looks promising. I,ll have to try it out at the farm, where i can shoot out to 50 yards indoors. I,ll keep you posted.

Here you can see - just - the elongated slots to allow the hamster to slide.

This morning I fitted some slightly higher scope mounts to get a better cheek weld and re-zeroed. Same result, pellet on pellet at 21 yards. Just for fun, I fired a few shots with my S410 and couldn,t better it. So now I have to check it out at longer ranges, ready for the next HFT meeting.
