Thanks, Yes, proper cut chequering - what came with the rifle anyway. I have avoided sanding down and oiling the chequering down and the camera makes the chequering seem darker than it is in reality.

And yes - golf clubs! Though you can't see the cobwebs. And fishing rods too. Got to be worth another three or four guns!

Finished! Far from perfect I know, but I'm pleased with the outcome and it is a HUGE improvement on the bit of pig iron and firewood it was before! I'll be down the range tomorrow to see if it still works.

Ha! Good spot. Its a Tasco 4x40 - as old as the gun - and was plonked for the photo. The gun itself has gone off to the gun shop to have its innards spruced up...

Errrrr, just a lil' observation Richard.....the scope has been mounted incorrectly.

The scope should be fitted so the turrets are placed to the top and righthand side when looking from the rear. Yours has the top turret on the lefthandside, and the righthandside turret is now on the top......so the scope mount straps need to be slackened off and the scope tube rotated 90 degrees clockwise. I hope I've explained that so it makes sense! ???

Cheers fellas. I'm chuffed, especially as anything I try like this usually goes pear shaped. And yes, I know what you mean on the scope front. I asked my son in law to put the scope in the mounts and plonk it on for the pic. I just didn't have time to straighten it out again!
