A Story About a Gun and the Man Who Shoots it

First things first; here's the gun:

Now, I'm not an expert on guns but I can tell you the following because I was chatting to the bloke who owns it (Brian Samson) while he was cleaning the barrel:
  • The "gun" is about 24 years old (the underside is rusty but Brian doesn't want to clean it in case it affects its performance)
  • It's an Air Arms TX200
  • The stock is about 4 years old
  • The stock is custom made
  • The scope goes to 60x magnification and cost a lot (in my opinion) of money
  • Brian cleans the barrel (because "people who win clean the barrel")
  • Brian does NOT wash his pellets (because "people who win don't wash pellets")
  • This gun is, to Brian, what a Ferrari is to Michael Schumacher; Brian won the World FT Championship with it

A World Championship winning gun - does that qualify it to be in the "Classic" section?

Brian took up FT shooting with a springer whilst recovering from a back injury a few years ago (2013, I think) and was asked to stand in as a late replacement for a member of the England squad when the world championships were held in Germany that year. He said "yes" and then realised that he needed to take it a bit seriously and practice so he didn't make a fool of himself. So he did just that, for three months.

And then it was off to Germany where no-one on the circuit knew him at first. But by the second day they knew him because his performance drew everyone's attention. He held the lead for a while and ended the competition on day three in a very close third position.

The following year the World Championships were held in New Zealand. By this time Brian was no longer the unknown "new-boy" and he reinforced his standing by winning the competition.

As well as that victory Brian has been British Champion and he mentioned something else that I can't remember.

So, why am i telling you guys about this?

Well, I thought you might like to see a pic of the gun, hear Brian's opinions on cleaning barrels and washing pellets and also to promote the fact that this year's World Championships are to be held in sunny Wales in a little over a week's time!!!!

Really? It's positively balmy here! Almost tropical.

It is. It's HIS range; him and his missus own it.
