Your top 5 must haves?
« on: June 02, 2017, 10:01:19 PM »
Evening Guys,

Well I'm back from my holiday, Wales was enjoyable (as always)

I have been reading a few magazines while I was away.

My question is this. Apart from you gun and pellets. What are your 5 must take with you items, when you go shooting. Be it to the range or to your permissions.

Is it jacket, or brand of clothes, a knife, flask, bino's or other piece of kit.

Thanks

Steve

Always having difficulty in remembering that one last item, either car keys or specs and not looking properly in the first place to find them, then looking in every possible clothes, shorts and trouser pocket, cranny, dropped, fallen under, hunting in long grass, emptying out flip top bin bags out of dustbins, under car seats with a torch, then starting all over again in case I missed them the first time, to find my car keys in my shorts pocket the entire time.

I have one single stainless latched ammo box with handles which is my one item. With absolutely everything imaginable inside it.

Obsession!
My dirty oily tea towel I've bonded with it's my blanky. I hold the wiper in my left hand to cock with.
Don't get the wrong idea Bruce's!!
To pull my under lever with.

Strewth !!
To stop getting sticky marks on my bluing.
Forget it, a tea towel.
If it helps, you always find lost items, in the last place you look!

I don't want the wife to find out, how many pop guns are under my bed in my room! Only room in the house that's safe from inspection really!!

1. Camo gear including face net and gloves - I just feel properly dressed otherwise!
2. Binoculars - mainly shoot a golf course so lots of big open areas. I also want to make sure I spot rogue golfers. Some have been known to sneak onto the course after hours
3. Sticks - lots of standing shots, usually after I have climbed a hill!
4. Rangefinder - still getting used to the shoot so need to work out the topography
5. Phone - though I make sure I only shoot after the last golfers have left (obviously) I put a sign in the window of my car letting any of the staff know that I am shooting on the course but that I can still be reached if needed.

Cheers guys,

I hasn't thought about the permissions or map! So something  else I've got to remember eventually.

Out hunting I take my mobile on silent good footwear for the weather. First aid kit. Knife flask snacks and tobacco. I use a game bag with plastic bags inside. I also swipe hand wipes from KFC to keep my hands clean. Gloves and head gear like a veil in hot weather or hate and scarfy in cold weather to stop your face shining.
