This looks almost cut and paste from another site I'm on. Although if you are the original poster with diffo nicknames on diffo sites I suppose it can happen.

If you read to the end he states it has been copied and pasted from another site with the authors permission.
My mind not only wanders ...... sometimes it leaves completely.

A tip, remember most farmers like a drink now and then, so find out what the favoured tipple of the permission holder is and supply a bottle at Christmas, keeps the shooting open!

Has it ever happened that a farmer has got angry with a person offering alcohol as a gift? I only ask because I know an old couple that have been lambing for years, this is as far as my countryside connections go. They are both T-total, and Christian. ;D :o 8)

both T-total, and Christian.

I've never understood the reasoning about how some Christians believe that alcohol goes against their religion.....after all, Jesus drank wine didn't he? ???

As to your question Mike.....I dunno, as I've never personally met a farmer that does not like to drink!!

I'd imagine back in Jesus time, wine was like grog in medieval Britain. Safer to drink than water as the alcohol volume killed some of the bugs in it.

Where as in modern times, it's more often than not just a drug to abuse.

It seems to vary amongst the Church sub groups as to how alcohol is viewed. The church of England lot hold christenings in pubs, while the Evangelical church my parents and the farming couple go to is closer to Victorian values.

They certainly turned me out well, as an atheist and sceptic.

I cast out that demon every time I enjoy firing my pistol at the club. :P
