Just bought a HW110 set up
« on: May 22, 2017, 09:03:58 PM »
As a result of provisionally selling one of my other rifles, I went out on Saturday with the intention of buying another HW100.
I missed the one I had 3 years ago but I wasn't going to pass up an offer of 2000 for it from an idiot with too much money.

So I paid a visit the FMJ Shooting nr Rugby and shouldered the new HW110 laminate TH. Twas lurvley.
But the owner then asked a groundbreaking question: "Have you tried the new HW110?"

Being down in the dumps for pretty much the last 3 years, my answer was "no".
At that point he got one of the wall and let me play with it for a bit. Initial reaction when he told me it was made from ballistics polyimer was a bit "Yuk", but in reality its a lovely bit of kit.

The trigger action IMO is smoother than the HW100, asis the loading / reloading. The syock is a rubber dipped version of the standard shape, or at least very close to it.
When I then found out it  was nearly 250 cheaper than the 100, it was a no brainer, and I REALLY did like my 100.
In the end I did a deal on the HW110, Harris bipod, Miny secondhand ViperEVO 3-18x50 scope, Lansky knife sharpener and a water proof Nuprol hardcase all for just 950.

I've been shooting with it on Sunday and Saturday and I'm blown away with it. I haven't chronoed it yet but Chairgun would suggest it's circa 11.2ftlbs or so and even after just 20 pellets, giving bench rest groupings @ 45 yards with JSB's Exacts of a 5p piece.

I've also allready bagged 3 pigeons and a medium bunny.
Anybody thinking of getting a HW100, I would reccommend at least taking a look at the 100; You could save yourself about 25% of the asking price.

Nic.

Nice. Sounds like you got a great deal, and it sounds like you deserved a treat. Good luck and good shooting...

Hi Nick, welcome back mate. Just run it through the chrono . Mine,s going back this afternoon, down on power , even with heavy pellets. And it hates all the usual food, JSB Exact, A A Field. Low power on this model seems to be fairly common. Mines doing 10.5. My dealer had sold ten and only had one back and that was due to low power. I hate the mag loading procedure , not a patch on the 100 IMO. I suppose i,ll get used to it.

Hi Bagga'.

I'd agree about the loading the mag into the action. Feels like it needs a couple more thou clearance to smooth it out.

Rab: I'll get some pics up later. XXX

Great rifle,I do like the look of them,I think it's the rifle I'd choose if I ever get another permission,to keep as a dedicated hunting rifle.
I've yet to shoot one but all I hear is good things about them
