I'm thinking of adding recording capability to my NV kit.

Just in case I see some open curtains. Sorry; just in case I want to record a hunting session.

I'm thinking about using one of these HMDVR boxes.

But it runs on 5v power.

Can anyone recommend a way to wire my 12v battery to a 5v device or can they recommend a cheap, rechargeable 5v battery?

Hi IceBlerk.

You could just use some resistors to choke down the 12v supply you already have. The cost pence and will save space.

I like pence compared to pounds. But I'm a complete novice when it comes to electronics.

I remember that V=IR from physics and I can wire a plug but I've forgotten far more than I can remember.

I guess I'm looking to use something that's a bit more "Plug 'n' Play". Would this stepdown converter work?
