SN number should be on the right hand side of the breach block IIRC in small numbers near the top.

I'm still thinking its a MK1 SE.

Large embossed letters on the cylinder.

These specials are a little hazy with the details, the early SE was produced in a limited number .I saw one on an auction site that stated it had no serial number it was thought to be around 1981.

And the barrel is a smidge over 17 inches...

Is that it's total length from breech to muzzle Richard, or muzzle to front breechblock face?

Thanks for the clarification on barrel length Dood.

Have you removed the stock to check if serial numbers are hiding under there?

It's worth a shot (no pun intended), but as Mick says, serial numbers on Vulcans are normally on the side of the breechblock.

And thanks Gambo for your PM - no worries about moving my posts, and truly great to be part of the forum; I'm hoping to contribute soon rather than just keep asking questions! (My reply seems to have bounced back, hence this post).

Did you measure the barrel thickness while you were at it ? :)
