Just been calculating bc for aaf and new batch of faps, calculated over 26 yards ,aaf .0290 and faps at .0222 . The new batch faps are better accuracy and much flatter aswell at modest/hunting range.

Air Arms own their own dies and there is a very slight difference to those made under the JSB brand. When it comes to head sizes what is stated on the tin is a load of old b....cks . This has been proven not just by me but others who have used a piece of kit made by The Pellet Gauge Company in the U.S.A. A guy in one of the Mags did an article on the subject and came to the same conclusion. I spent a day carefully measuring pellets and not one even measured 4.5mm. Most came in at 4.48mm. I shoot AA 4.52 ,s through my HFT rifle and AA 4.51,s through my AA410. The difference between the two is the 4.52,s are shallower inside as opposed to the 4.51,s , which are little deeper inside.
This is the tool i,m referring to. http://www.intershoot.co.uk/acatalog/Pelletgage-Pellet-Measurement-Gauge-1103.html

So can we infer it's not really about the pellet size , it's more related to which die they come out of. Airarms have about 10 dies in 177 at the jsb factory.

Do you know what.......exactly the same thing happened to me!! :o

Seriously........it's not just AA/JSB pellets that have anomalies like that. I bought tins of 5.55 H&N Field Target Trophy, which actually had a smaller head size than the tins of 5.53 I already had. :-\

A guy at the club swears by super domes but last weekend opened a new tin same batch etc etc out of the same sleve he bought and couldn't group anything with them other than looking like a 12 bore had shot the target. He opened a fresh time same sleve batch etc and pellet on pellet at 45 yard same out of all his rifles
