Ye Gods!!

I just ran it through the combro, Through the Huff and Puff along with copious blue smoke the boor bugger can only manage 321fps with what I think are 14.4 gn 5.5mm  (lavendar tin) Eley Wasps- around 3.3ft lbs :o

3.3ftlbs huh.............not exactly a hunting gun then.....but read on.......!!

Have you chrono'd the Falcon John, as it would be really interesting to know?

IIRC, the Webley blurb of the day quoted them as being either 400 or 450fps, but I didn't have a chrono back in those days so couldn't check what power/velocity it was actually producing.

It did seem slightly less powerful than the Meteors that many of my friends had, but that didn't stop it for accounting for 1,000's of heads of quarry (yes really, I kept a hunting diary one year) which even included large stuff like rabbits and woodies.....all on open sights and Marksman domed pellets!!

Ahhh, dem wer der days!! ::)

Hi all

It was absolutely acky inside (Couldn't wait until the weekend to strip it!)

The 'Gunsmith bodged it i'm afraid  :(  The synthetic piston seal was a 20mm (id) x 21.5mm Oring but the piston head was machined too wide, A 3.5mm thick Oring would go in but it was machined to shallow!
I may call at City seals and beraings to see if they have any 20mm x 3mm Orings as they may be spot on!!

The piston head that holds the Oring is free to spin on the stepped screw that holds it in so I presume high pressure air will escape through the joint, Maybe some really thick axle greas would hold in there!!!

Thye Ox is a perfect fit in the piston and on the spring guide, I got a round section spring out that sat in the piston OK but I got the bugger stuck on the spring guide!! so the Ox had to go back in for now!, The Ox had around 40mm of preload, I think when i've finished for Chrimbo nect tuesday I may take it back out and chop it to tame it a little although cocking effort isn't overly difficult..

The cracks in the stock that were stailised in a word, Weren't!! I put a bit of leverage on with a screwdriver and they opened up readily! I got the PVA glue oue out, Opened the crack and squited plenty in with the fine nozzle, I worked them open and closed loads of times so that capilliary action drew the glue fully in and clamped it until tomorrow, One crack can hardly be seen but the other is very noticable so I think i'll redo the stock and make some filler to to close the crack...
It still needs another breech seal as the gunsmiths replacement didn't cut the mustard and it leaked blue dieselled oil smoke terribly!

Btw, I did replace the piston seal but it's still tool small as when I put my finger over the transfer port, The piston still pushed fully down the cylinder, I think I really need to buy a 3mm in section Oring or machine mthe recess a little deeper..

Some pics of the gubbins..

Tried Dave but it felt like it was going to break, It was dead tight  :-\

Think a bit of heat on the piston body would expand the female threads and let the screw open OK  ;)

John..
