Hi my name is paul and ive just joined this forum and im also a member of DOC and BBS and i sold a rifle to a bloke who after 2 weeks of getting the rifle desided that there was something wrong with it he tried slatting me on the 2 forums i have mentioned and he even emailed my partner,he put the hole conversation up for everyone to read,to cut a long story short he tried stitching me up as PETE.M and some other members know so its not always the seller you have to worry about its the buyer as well.

A very fair point, top.

Having the 30/30 rule in place, will allow BOTH parties to get a better idea/feel for who they are dealing with.

I personally (and so do a LOT of other people) think that the 'inconvenience' of having to fulfil the 30/30 requirements are far outweighed by the security and benefit it brings.

I'm sorry to hear of the grief and hassle you have gone through top, but I hope (and believe) that repartitions of sales situations turning sour, like you have sadly experienced, will be kept to an absolute minimum on 'The Planet'.

the 0/30 isn't the issue

by offering a service 'TRADING AREA'
that can't be fulfilled by it's own ruling is in breech of it's own ruling 'SALES'
by displaying via enticement 'to sell' and to break a rule... no one has been on for 30 days, the forum isn't that old

that's in compliant

my point was that the section should be removed until after 30 day's

don't take this the wrong gents....i can see why the 30/30 is in place,but....please don't think just because somebody has hundreds of post's that you're 100% safe in any deal.
if a seller wants to get rid of an item that is'nt working as it should they'll still try and palm it off on somebody if they are that way inclined regardless of the amount of post's they have.
that aside....i cannot stress enough if dealing by post wether buying or selling there are a couple of simple rules that may save you loseing money.
A./ do not pay for guns/silencers with paypal,if it goes tits up they won't do a thing to help you, also don't be tight and avoid 4% fees by sending as a gift, again if you 'gift' money you are not covered.
if buying a gun it's best to pay by bank transfer/cheque and ask for a receipt, posted or better emailed,at least this way you have some chance of getting your money back if it goes wrong.
everything else is fine to pay by paypal, scopes etc.
B./when sending a gun, then only royal mail standard parcels will cover any loss or damage, this service unfortunately is not tracked or a signature obtained on delivery, although it's best to check just to make sure as royal mail can and will change the conditions as and when they please.

as far as i'm aware standard parcels is the only service whereby guns can be sent within the uk,make sure you have enough insurance (optional extra on sp)
everything else i would send via 1st class signed for or rmsd, this however dose'nt guarantee it will reach it's destination,(in fact if a rmsd parcel crosses the hands of a light fingered postie it's more likely to go missing),but it does mean you are covered to make a claim.
insist on the same rules when people are posting parcels to you.

upto date i have very recently had a scope go missing within 6 hrs of being sent by rmsd....i have had a parcel put through a buyers door without the postie obtaining a signature as he should have,i have also had the 'attempted' delivery card through the door scenario....only they did'nt leave the card so i had no idea they'd even tried,it only came to light when the seller checked his tracking number and asked if i had picked the parcel up!
and a scope that was posted to me has'nt arrived, the seller has imo ignored my requests as to which service he used,i'm now starting to get a bit....uncertain lets say.

and the golden rule....if a bargain price seem's to good to be true....then it's possibly a scam!  ;)

How about a Falcon FN 12 PCP including case, sound moderator, scope, filling adaptor and two tins of pellets for 100 !!!! Saying that though....im just loved :P :P :P (all paid for by my older brother too >:D)

Anyway back to the topic. the 30/30 rule is not the only thing that helps prevent scams. Every time you post or log in your IP address gets logged. so if youre well known for scamming or have only scammed once or twice whether it be on a forum or auction site such as ebay your IP would of been flagged. And of couse if the scammer came here then and tried to sell somethiing to someone their accound would be deleted. I remember seeing this on the old forum Air Gun Universe. (it was actually Gambo that caught him :D) Any sites such as ebay amazon that have witnessed people scam or have had scam reports filed WILL have their IP address logged. Its just a matter of the Admin checking.

The only way of avoiding this would be to manually change your IP address which is incredibly difficult. Hope this helps.

It's not that difficult to release your IP and be assigned a new one if you know what your doing, it is however harder to mask your host name though I believe there are ways around this too. That said we will be keeping a close eye on the trading over this forum but it is impossible to catch everyone all of the time so common sense and vigilance should be excercised at all times.
