Being the lovely jubbly person that I am, I don't think I have smited anyone, plenty of merits though!

I still say it has a negative affect on those who take the time to actively participate in thread building while others sit and smite anonymously. It only serves to deter those who make the effort.

If you can't make a statement that you don't agree in person, why do it? And why have a forum that essentially encourages it? Saying it's for fun doesn't cut it. I see my negative score keep climbing and I would be surprised if anybody say's it makes them feel good.

The result will be that if it gets to the point that I feel that my contribution is not valued, I'll leave. Simple as that.

i agree with knuckle if someone doesn't like what you say they should front up have an open discussion
and say so. not have the ability to stab you in the back and remain anonymous,
very often things that start as fun end up as a pecking party,or if newbies join the site later and dont understand
they might well leave because of it although we do it as fun.
THATS ENOUGH LETS ALL SMITE GAMBO NOW

Ok, some valid points there.

I'll start a poll which will run for one calender month, to decide if it stays or goes.
